Abstract

The Noyce Scholars at the University of Houston-Clear Lake are offered an opportunity to work in an on-campus summer camp for students ranging in age from 3 to 15 years of age. The camp offers a wide range of STEM based camps including math, engineering, science, video game development, web design, mobile app development, digital art, and stop action movie development. Exposing the scholars to innovative tools and strategies will positively influence their adoption of new innovations in their future classrooms While research has shown that innovations such a technologies can engage and motivate students, too often students in high needs schools lack opportunities to experience innovations in their classrooms. This poster session will highlight the camp experiences of the University of Houston-Clear Lake scholars.
