The Noyce program at CSUSB is a partnership with the San Bernardino City Unified School District. The program aims to interest STEM students to pursue careers in secondary level education while completing a mathematics or science degree and/or while earning a teaching credential at CSUSB. Students may apply for the Noyce program starting their junior and senior year and are eligible to participate in monthly seminars, in-classroom training and a $10,000 scholarship to cover tuition expenses. Scholars are paired with an experienced mentor teacher from the San Bernardino City Unified School District with whom they will collaborate for the duration of the school year in facilitating class lessons. As a first year Noyce scholar I feel more confident in my decision to become a secondary level school teacher since the Noyce program director, staff and mentors have provided me with much support and feedback. The scholarship money helps fund majority of my tuition which allows me to focus on my academics and my role in the classroom without the need to look for an extra source of income. Collaborating with my mentor teacher inside the classroom has helped me grow as a teacher and has exposed me to several experiences which are easier to face because I know that I have the entire Noyce team to support me.
